Your most embarrassing date moment?
I agreed to go to a concert with this guy the night after the 'Bugs & Drugs' exam, which is notoriously one of the most difficult exams. I'd been staying up all week to study and was super sleep-deprived, but went on the date anyway. By the time the headliner came on stage, it was only about 9:30, but I could not stop yawning! He noticed, and insisted on taking me home even though they had barely started playing. He was very nice about it but I felt so bad.
What career accomplishment are you most proud of?
Last summer, I spent eight weeks in the Amazon region of Peru studying a zoonotic infectious disease called Leptospirosis. I had the privilege of presenting the work at the American Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene's 63rd annual conference, at which Bill Gates was the keynote speaker. It was amazing to be able to hear him speak about the progress the Gates Foundation has made in malaria research, and how their goal is to eradicate malaria within his lifetime. Bill and Melinda are such incredibly inspiring people; talk about #relationshipgoals haha.
