Your most embarrassing date moment?
I have a habit of not putting a guy's name into my contacts until we've actually met in person. I was texting with a really interesting, successful guy for a while, but things tapered off. A month or so later, he started texting me again and we decided to meet up for a drink. I showed up to the bar, he arrived, and after a few minutes it became very apparent that the guy who came to join me was not at all the guy I thought I had been texting!
What career accomplishment are you most proud of?
In January, I went to an InstaMeet in Yosemite hosted by adventure photographer Chris Burkhard. A hundred or so Instagrammers all gathered in the valley to meet one another and share the beauty of the park—and to see climbers Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson as they made their way up the Dawn Wall. Through the people I met that day, I got in touch with Kevin and Tommy's photographer and—in turn—with Tommy and Kevin themselves, who were suspended thousands of feet over the valley floor as we did the interview. I published the story on @instagram to 70 million people minutes after they reached the top. Hearing Tommy and Kevin's stories and their excitement on the night before their successful climb was an experience I'll hold close forever.
