Your most embarrassing date moment?
A couple years ago I went on a date with this guy I had just met, we planned to meet at a restaurant right around dinner time. We sat down, the waiter came over, and I ordered a sandwich and a beer. The waiter looked at my date, who said he wasn't hungry and just ordered a beer. This put me in the awkward position of eating a full meal in front of someone while they watched. Even worse, the sandwich was so saucy it was dripping down my fingers. I had to just laugh at myself and put it down. Since then, this has actually happened to me two other times! As I reflect on it now, I think I need to learn from it and skip the meal on the first date.
What career accomplishment are you most proud of?
After spending a year in San Francisco with a sole focus on creating artwork, I took a temp job in the galleries at Academy of Art University, in order to afford being an artist in an expensive city. I had no idea it would turn into something I feel excited and passionate about. Over the past two and a half years, I've moved from being a temp in the galleries to the Program Manager for the entire student events department — it's extremely rewarding work with the students. I'm able to create opportunities for them to connect not just with the University community, but with San Francisco as a whole.
